Associate Attorneys:
Sheehey Furlong & Behm P.C. (Sheehey), a full-service Vermont law firm of 20+ lawyers, is seeking a corporate/commercial associate attorney with 3-5 years of experience in transactional and corporate law including: mergers, asset and stock acquisitions, commercial real estate, corporate law or secured finance. A background and familiarity with tax law and an interest working with the firm’s diverse non-profit corporate clients would be additional assets.
Based in Burlington, on the Lake Champlain waterfront, Sheehey lawyers provide high quality legal services to sophisticated individual and business clients based in Vermont and nationally, all while living in and around a vibrant city with easy access to the myriad of outdoor activities that scenic Vermont has to offer.
Qualified candidates should have exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality legal work. Sheehey looks for lawyers with an enthusiastic approach, a strong work ethic and the ability to be a true team player. The candidate must be admitted to practice in Vermont or be eligible for admission. Admission to practice in New Hampshire is not required but a plus. Staff:
Sheehey Furlong & Behm, an established, growing law firm located near the Burlington waterfront, is accepting applications for a Title Search/Real Estate Professional. This unique position is for either an attorney or paralegal with demonstrated Vermont real estate experience to provide assistance and support in a busy medium-sized firm with a variety of residential and commercial real estate needs. The position will involve travelling to perform residential and commercial title searches at town clerk’s offices throughout Vermont (mileage reimbursed), preparing reports and opinions on title and drafting property descriptions, working with title insurers and title insurance policies and forms, and researching and analyzing state and municipal permit and compliance issues. The position will also involve drafting conveyance and closing documents, including but not limited to deeds, tax forms, and settlement statements. If the applicant is an attorney, the position may also involve contract negotiation and drafting, conducting closings, and working on other real estate related matters including commercial leasing and permitting.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience related to title searches/real estate, at least a Bachelor’s Degree, and be detail-oriented and organized with strong communication and writing skills. Candidates with a law degree but less experience will be considered, provided they have demonstrated skills and experience in conducting title searches. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education, and will include a generous benefits package. The anticipated pay range for this position is $32 – $42 per hour.
